When Skate Brands Collide - 2010

on Saturday, 31 August 2013.

Here's a math problem for you... Two skate brands are on the same track heading towards each other at high speed. If one brand is traveling at 105mph and the other is traveling at 115mph how fucking awesome will their product line be when they collide?

Questions such as this have plagued scholars for decades and although we don't have the answer, our belief is you can always look to the past to predict the future. So join us as we journey back in time for answers and review some of the best skate brand collaborations to date.

2010 Collaborations

  • Girl x Hello Kitty x Mike Carroll: Hella Kitty / Sanrio's 50th Anniversary (Spring 2010)

Hello Kitty has managed to collaborate with nearly every company in the universe on some product or another; and although it's not the first time this pussy's been ran through by a skate brand, this "Hella Kitty" release with Girl and Mike Carroll has seen overwhelming success.
  • HUF x Stussy: Stoops (Spring 2010)

Stoops... As in STOOPID. The term was originally coined in the 1995 classic skate film "Kids"; a movie that embodies the style of mid 90's skateboard youth almost as much as Stussy does. Can you still draw an "S"?
  • Etnies x Chocolate: Devine Calloway Mid (Summer 2010)

The retro vibe of this blue model makes me want to practice my flat ground 70's tricks. There is a full line available in different colors... Save the yellow ones for a day you're feeling extra flossy.
  • Lakai x Crailtap: Howard Mid (Summer 2010)

If you've ever been to Crailtap.com the reason for this design should be obvious... If you haven't been to Crailtap.com go to the site so it WILL be obvious.
  • Vans x WTaps: Spider (Fall 2010)

So many paths to choose from.
The outcomes for each are uncertain.
Decide on a path and keep moving.
  • DGK x Diamond: Limited Edition (Holiday 2010)

What do you get when you cross DGK with Diamond Supply Co??? DIAMOND GHETTO KIDS! This line came complete with Letterman's Jacket so haters know not to fuck with you at Da Playground.
  • DGK x G Shock: Stevie Williams Limited (Holiday 2010)

...and if someone asks you what time it is just tell them, "IT'S DGK ALL DAY BITCH!"
  • Deathwish x Fallen: Slash (Holiday 2010)

No, it's not a Creature collabo, but from the color I can understand your possible confusion. Nonetheless, these Deathwish x Fallen shoes make me wish I had a fourth leg so I could wear two pairs at once... If only they were glow in the dark.
  • Vans x WTaps: Authentic (Holiday 2010)

What? You thought you saw the last of this duo? This time it's clear the cohesive genius of Vans x WTaps was going for a cleaner more professional vibe, probably meant for yachting; but honestly, to me they look like high end designer bowling shoes.
  • Nike SB x Supreme: 94 (Holiday 2010)

I'm sure at some point in your life you've heard that stupid saying about how your shoes are one of the first things a girl will notice about you. Well if you're lucky enough to have a girl catch you in a brand new pair of these 94's well then congratulations my friend you've just boarded the train to Pound-Town!
  • Marty: Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?

Dr. Emmett Brown: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?

Gun it to 88mph and travel back to the future of 2011!
