The Mike Mo Capaldi Interview

Mike Mo Capaldi is a steezy tech wizard that lives the skate life most of us can only dream of. From his debut in Forecast, to Fully Flared, to Pretty Sweet, to whatever the hell he's working on next, Mike Mo consistently crushes tricks with textbook steez that keeps us rewinding his clips over and over.

He was kind enough to take a break from his daily regiment of skating, video games and Batman to answer a few questions on... well... skating, video games and Batman.

Skateboarding's Best Carcass Huckers

The Carcass Huckers... Those who selflessly sling themselves down sets of 20 (or more) just for our amusement, or to collect a paycheck that, in some cases, may consist mostly of wheels and T-shirts.

One can huck their carcass in a variety of ways, and we've tried to capture that versatility through this article. Thus, you'll see examples of carcass hucks that are straight ollies, kicklfips, and even a top-notch carcass huck into a bank.

So hold your knees and ankles close as we present "Skateboarding's Best Carcass Huckers"

The Ed Duff Interview

"Ed Duff embodies the hometown kid. A normal skate rat, he absolutely loves skateboarding and would give anything to do it as much as humanly possible. He got good at skating but never changed his love for it. Giving him a chance to make his dreams come true is like giving hope to all small town kids who love skateboarding for all the right reasons." -Chris Cole

From the Vault: Skateboarding's Most Epic Sponsor Me Tapes

Once upon your favorite pro was just like you, practicing kickflips in their garage during a rainy winter, and pestering any pros visiting their podunk town with questions like, "Can you hardflip?" and "Give me your skateboard".

But the times, they change, and somewhere along the way, Jerry Hsu learned that you can't film tricks on three stair ledges.

But you, you somehow never learned this, and that's why you don't ride for Chocolate.

Half Cab: Birth Of An Icon

In the early 90's a new generation of skaters ditched the halfpipe of their predecessors and started taking it back to the streets. Caballero noticed these guys were cutting his classic Vans signature high-top down for more dexterity; so in 92' Vans responded with a mid-size version and thus The Half Cab was born!

It's been over 20 years now since The Half Cab was released and this past weekend over 30 artists contributed works to celebrate this iconic shoe with a massive art gallery hosted by Vans and Steve Caballero himself.

The Karl Watson Interview

Karl Watson and his big-ass smile have been a staple of Bay Area skateboarding for years. We first became fans after Mad Circle's 1995 classic 5ive Flavors, a short but sweet video in which Watson showed us some of the ledge wizardry that he would become known for in later years.

Watson's trick selection stands out as uniquely his own, and some of his ledge combos like front nose frontside 270 out have foreshadowed the impossibly awkward pretzel manipulations of the Suiciu Era we are in now. But Watson never looks awkward - his skating flows and the line-to-single-trick ratio in his video parts is something that this younger generation of stuntmen should take note of.

7 Dudes Who Took Skating to Staggering New Heights

This video is about the dudes who, rather than simply keeping up with skateboarding's trends, set them themselves. They gave us new tricks, new names, and some of the most memorable parts of all time. They also reminded us how shitty we are at skateboarding.

It has been more than a decade since most of these parts have been released, but they are so good they'll still make you shit your pants, at least a little bit.

Skateboarding's 6 Most Criminally Underrated Ledge Technicians

For every dude who has built a career on a foundation of granite ledges, there are five other dudes doing fakie flip back noseblunts on ledges into oblivion. Sadly, there seems to be a cap on the amount of dudes who can build careers by skating mostly ledges.

And while this might ultimately be a good thing, it means a lot of seriously rad dudes get lost in the shuffle. Case in point- Javier Sarmiento. Ever heard of him? You should have, but we at SkateMore fear some of the young'uns haven't.

Thus, we have made it our mission to edumacate you on the 6 Most Criminally Underrated Ledge Technicians.

The Lance Mountain Interview

Sitting down to write questions for Lance felt a bit like preparing to read War and Peace or something; there's just SO much to know and learn! Over 3 decades of skateboarding, Bones Brigade, Animal Chin, The Firm, his art, his photography (Guy Mariano sunset 50-50 anyone?), the list goes on... It's kind of intimidating! But Lance himself isn't intimidating. In fact, next to Gonz, we can't think of a more appropriate 'Ambassador of Skateboarding' than Lance- he's a legendary pioneer with the everlasting enthusiasm of a skate rat, yet still a clean shaven family man endorsed by Nike. Plus, he was kind enough to grant us an interview! Just hope we didn't screw it up.

This is The Lance Mountain Interview.

The Josh Kalis Interview

There are few people who have defined the skating of the late 90s and 2000s as much as Josh Kalis. He has pushed skateboarding to new levels (and heights- dude has POP); but most importantly, he's always kept it clean and consistent.

Check his part in Toy Machine's 1994 video Heavy Metal and you'll see the same dude you see today. Of course, the tricks have progressed, but the switch mongo push, the switch back tails, the smooth lines- those have been there since the beginning.

Ray Barbee x Vans: Seeing In Monochrome

This past weekend Atlas hosted a Ray Barbee x Vans shoe release party at their shop in San Mateo, CA. The night was dedicated to Ray's new colorways as well as a select photo gallery from the works of Brian Gaberman, Anthony Acosta and Ray Barbee himself.

To top it all off Tommy Guerrero and Alfredo Ortiz joined Ray for an incredible jam session that kept the shop packed! Of course the free Pabst Blue Ribbon didn't hurt either.

Scroll on for a good time in black and white... This is "Seeing In Monochrome".

6 Skate Parts That Made Us NOT Want To Skate

You pop in the VHS. You click the YouTube link, looking for some pre-session motivation. Three or four minutes of quality skating to get you amped for a session with the boys.

What you get instead is a mind fuck. Skateboarding so ridiculously advanced that you can't even relate. Not in any way. These are the extreme opposite of a Nate Jones video part.

Well we've certainly been there, and we've compiled the top 6 skaters that have made us feel like we never want to skate again.

Maybe go skate before reading ahead.

The Rob Brink Interview

At first glance you probably recognize Rob Brink as that mellow dude sitting at the end of the table on Weekend Buzz nursing a beer. And that he is! However, as a tenured writer, editor, producer, strategist and consultant of the skate industry Rob's contribution to the skate world behind the scenes goes well beyond that of your average web host.

Rob was nice enough to take some time from interviewing your favorite skaters to answer a few questions himself. This is The Rob Brink Interview

Red Bull, Vertigo, and Near Death: The Caswell Berry Interview

Caswell has been around for so long, that we sometimes forget how good he is. Then you throw on one of his video parts and get excellent trick selection and all-terrain skillz so good we have to spell "skills" with a "z." Since his first coverage (skating a halfpipe no less) in the late 90s to today, Caswell has been steady shredding.

Caswell was super open in his interview with SkateMore, and discusses facing down vertigo, the IRS, and dildo attacks from Ed Templeton. That and what it was like being in the middle of a tornado.

Read on for more Caswell Berry!
